BiteBurner — a calorie calculator that turns your workout into snack equivalents

Turn sweat into snacks — or snacks into sweat. Your call.

Enter your weight and how long you worked out, and BiteBurner converts the calories burned into food you'd actually recognize — cheeseburgers, donuts, pizza slices, and more. The math: calories = MET × weight (kg) × duration (hours), the standard formula for estimating energy expenditure from an activity's Metabolic Equivalent of Task (MET).

What are we burning off today?

Doesn't have to be a marathon.

How much do you weigh?

Just for the math — we won't tell anyone.

How long were you at it? 30 min

Round up. We won't check your watch.

Frequently asked questions

What is a MET value?

MET stands for Metabolic Equivalent of Task — a standard way to measure how intense an activity is relative to resting. 1 MET is roughly the energy you burn sitting still; running at a moderate pace is around 8 MET, meaning you burn about 8× your resting rate. We combine an activity's MET value with your weight and workout duration to estimate calories burned.

How accurate are these calorie estimates?

They're solid ballpark estimates, not medical or nutritional advice. Calorie burn varies by individual — fitness level, effort, terrain, and body composition all play a part — so treat the numbers here as a fun way to visualize your workout, not a clinical measurement.

Where do the MET and calorie numbers come from?

MET values reflect widely-used exercise-science estimates for how many calories an activity burns per hour relative to resting. Food calorie counts come from typical serving-size data. We've hand-tuned both for accuracy on common activities and foods, and for fun on the more playful entries (looking at you, Trampoline Dodgeball) — treat the numbers as solid ballpark figures, not medical or nutritional advice.

Does this account for my weight and workout duration?

Yes — both are part of the formula: calories burned = MET × your weight in kilograms × duration in hours. Heavier or longer workouts burn more, exactly as you'd expect. Enter your weight and duration above and the estimate updates live.

Can I go the other way and see how much exercise a snack costs?

Yes — use the "Snack → Workout" toggle at the top of the calculator to pick a food and see how much activity it would take to burn it off.
